Visit
You can commission a performance or have us curate a tailor-made program for you, your family and guests. Our Visitors Program offers you a glimpse behind the scenes of the theater and the opportunity to witness Kattaikkuttu live…
Stay
We offer people who value a quiet retreat in an idyllic environment the possibility to stay onsite in our guest house, away from the noise and pollution of the city and the pressure of fast communication. Walking or working in our organic garden allows you to reconnect with nature and rural life.
For artists who would like to work on a new production, we offer the use of several different training spaces. If you plan to write a book, this might be an inspiring and peaceful place to do so.
We welcome people of all kinds offering them a unique experience that can vary from a quiet retreat to a joyous and immersive hands-on experience of the performing arts, their richness and energy.
You can also join us in our experimental journey of discovering how to make our farming sustainable — meeting our food needs without compromising the ability for current or future generations to meet theirs. You can rent your own garden plot or help us out with the daily chorus on the land. Or you can join our local kitchen staff to (learn to) cook your own food the Tamil way using our organic produce.
Surroundings
Exit through the main gate of the Sangam, turn left and follow the small road in the direction of Kolivakkam. After about 100 meters you will see an amazing monument situated at the cross-roads of 3 villages: Kolivakkam, Punjarasantankal and Aiyankarkulam. This unique underground mandapam (pillared hall) is open once a year during full moon in the month of Chittirai (April-May) when the water is pumped out of the well. People from nearby and far visit the well and so does the God Varadaraja Perumal (Vishnu). As part of a larger procession, he spends the night there — with his consort Bhuma Devi.
Head out through the back gate of the Sangam’s farm towards the sloping bank. After a steep climb you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of a temple dedicated to Hanuman, the monkey-god and devotee of Lord Rama, and the huge water reservoir that has been constructed in front of the temple.
Upon entering Aiyankarkulam, the village next to the Hanuman temple, you will hear the sound of hand looms. Here silk is woven at home by traditional weavers.
